Manual edge polishing depends entirely on the worker’s skill and consistency at that moment, and it’s very hard to maintain the exact same result across dozens or hundreds of units. CNC-based side and edge polishing machines solve this: they define the edge profile in advance (straight, rounded, beveled, bullnose and others), the number of stages, and the type of polishing head at each stage, and produce the exact same result on every single piece that goes through the machine. Kitchen countertops usually require a rounded or beveled edge that’s comfortable for everyday touch, while architectural projects and staircases sometimes need a special profile that serves both an aesthetic and a safety purpose (reducing slipperiness, for example).
